With Christmas quickly approaching, I’ve been a little busy with work and wrapping things up before I’m off for the next week. Because of this, my writing has suffered. I was talking to my friend Adam today and he led me to this site The Story of Stuff. This video is very interesting, it’s just over 20 minutes long and it is as the name says the story of stuff that we buy and consume.
What is the Story of Stuff?
From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It’ll teach you something, it’ll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever.
It is very informative and as they say, may make you think about how we live our lives. I know it made me think. Think about how many holes are missing from the process of productions and consumption. Lots of blanks between Extraction, Production, Distribution, Consumption and Disposal. As they state, we need to find another way.
Cheers,
Darryl
