Well everyone, we’re nearing the end of April (April 1st means that 25% of the year is gone) and I thought now is a good time to revisit where I stand with my goals for 2008. You can see my original post of my 2008 goals here.
Well let’s see which goals are on track and which ones are not
- Complete a minimum of 208 workouts
I have currently completed 46 workouts to date, I’m about 10% below where I should be for this. I couldn’t predict loosing 3 weeks to being sick. I guess will find out July 1st if I’ve made up any workouts. - Take my body fat from 28% to 12%
My current body fat is roughly 19 or 20% right now so I have dropped 8% in 3 months. This puts me 50% closer to my goal in only 3 months. - Eat healthy 90% of the time (I think this will be the toughest one for me).
Ouch, I wish I could say that I’ve managed to do this, but that would be a complete lie. I started eating very well through January and part of February, but as things got busy, old habits quickly came back. Time to tighten down on this if I want to succeed with goal #2. - Increase business 20%
Business is slowly building which is great. - Improve my sleep habits so that I’m falling (shutting down my brain) faster, sleeping deeper and waking up refreshed.
2008 has been the year of sleep for me compared to the past. I’m am getting 8hours of sleep 90% of the time. What I difference this has made in my mental and physical ability, not to mention me mood and general outlook on life. - Keep my blood pressure at it’s current levels 118/62 with resting heart rate of 52.
I will update this post when I take my blood pressure today or tomorrow.
So in the first quarter of 2008 I’m running 50-50 on sticking with my goals. I need to cut the slack in some areas and aspects if I’m going to succeed in my long term goals
My short term goals for my fitness are:
- Squat double my body weight which would be 320lbs. I’m currently squatting 265lbs.
- Increase my bench press to my body weight, 160lbs with dumbbells. I current dumbbell press 130lbs (65lbs in each hand)
- Deadlift double my body weight. This will take some time to build up. If my memory serves me correct, last time I did deadlifts, I was lifting 225lbs, which is quite a way from 320lbs.
Let me know where you currently stand with your goals. I look forward to hearing about them.

Hi,
Great post about your goals. Are you doing this on your own or are you following a specific program?
I am following the Magic 100 as per Craig’s recommendation. I’m into my first week and I like that program very much. Pretty easy to follow. I had done Goal setting programs by Anthony Robbins in the past but I like the Magic 100 better.
Good luck
Howard
Hi Howard, Thanks very much.
I’m not currently following any goal programs. I would like to know more about the Magic 100 if you can send me any details that would be great.
Thanks for the support
