Phase 2: Feel the Burn, but Heed Your Own Advice

Today I started Phase 2 which is a fat burning stage of my 12 week transformation. I took last week off to recover from some extremely heavy workouts for the previous 10 weeks. I did some light exercising while on my break, along with 4 rounds of golf (only 1 round did I rent a power cart).

For Phase 2, I’m working through the Turbulence Training Big 5 for Fat Loss program. I chose this program because it is very close to MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) style workouts, plus many other TT Members are having great success with burning fat while building muscle and endurance strength on it.

For tonight’s workout, I started with the Barbell Complex, and I did not listen to the advice that I shared with other TT Members. My advice was to make sure you don’t start with to heavy a weight or you won’t make it through the circuit 3 times. I started with the Olympic Bar (45lbs) and added another 30lbs to it for a total of 75lbs. Now you may be saying “This isn’t very much weight, what are you Darryl, a wimp?” The answer is no, and until you try it, don’t mock it. I made it through the circuit twice at 75lbs and then dropped down to just the Olympic Bar for the final circuit.

Here’s the circuit all done with an Olympic Barbell:

Squat x 15
Push Press x 15
Bent over BB row x 15
Alternating Forward Lunges x 15
Mountain climbers x 15
